Google TV is redundant.

There is a lot of buzz right now from all of the tech blogs about what a game changer Google TV will be. How all you do is search and it will find the show and IR blast your cable box to watch it or send you to the website to watch it. Sounds great, but I have had a PC connected to my TV that has covered those needs for several years now.
I currently have a Windows 7 computer in a brilliant Silverstone case connected to my TV via HDMI with a Blu Ray player and an HDHomerun. So not only can I browse the web, watch Netflix, Hulu and anything else I feel like I can also record shows via the HDHomerun. As a bonus Silicondust will be releasing a cable card version called the HDHomerun Prime in the coming months, promised before the holidays anyway. If you have not experience Windows Media Center 7 then you need to. Its a great piece of software that gets little attention thanks to Microsoft producing it.
With all of the Net Top computers with dual Atom processors and ION2 on the way for the same price and some for a little more that add Blu Ray. Its a full featured computer than trumps what Google can give you. This sounds great but its not very robust and Google is going to data mine everything you do on the device. I like the direction they are trying to take things through TV on the web but you are still tethered to that hateful Cable box or Satellite box.
Save your Drachmas and get a Net Top and do what you want with the computer and use whatever programs you want without Google’s permission and prying eyes.
